Pulenat - The Dangerous Mind

This western wind does not appear often, but when it does, the news mention it because it comes in force and brings lots of rain. It blows more often in the northern Adriatic. It forms as a south-western leveche and changes direction towards the north-west and tramontane. Like the leveche, which is usually formed in the wake of another wind, it creates big waves and storms where it passes.

Boaters are advised not to sail during the ponente, and the same advice applies for it as for the leveche. Ports open to the west should be avoided, but if you find yourself in one during the ponente, anchor your vessel at a safe distance and prepare a storm anchor. Because of its force, this wind is as dangerous as the bora.
